Brazilian Butt Lift

If you’ve been doing squats and leg lifts until your thighs burn, but your buttocks still don’t fill out your jeans, then a Brazilian butt lift in Nashville may be the answer to your prayers.

While sculpting the rest of your body may have come easily, the shape of your buttocks is often determined by your genes. The best way to add volume to the buttocks while also slimming other parts of your body is through a Brazilian butt lift, also called a BBL.

WHAT IS A BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT?

Until the mid-1990s, the only options for a curvier backside were either uncomfortable implants or the injection of foreign materials into the muscular area.

However, in 1996, Ivo Pitanguy, the father of modern cosmetic surgery, and his associates published the first paper which included a large number of BBL patients in the North American Journal Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

In the fall of 1995, while the procedure was still being developed, Dr. Ingram was fortunate enough to be performing a fellowship under Professor Pitanguy in Rio De Janeiro.

Dr. Ingram was one of the first U.S. surgeons to perform this procedure when he opened his practice in 1997. Back then, North Americans generally wanted small waists and hips.

However, since the mid-2000s, people in the United States have begun to place a higher emphasis on the sexiness of a curvy bottom. Due to this change in appreciation for women’s’ curves, more than 25,000 BBLs were performed in the U.S. in 2020

THE BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT PROCEDURE

Most of our patients have thought about undergoing breast augmentation surgery for years before they come to see us. Once they decide to go ahead with the surgery, however, the process is surprisingly simple from their perspective.

After one or two consultations, during which Dr. Ingram and you will discuss exactly how breast augmentation procedures can help you look and feel your best, your breast augmentation surgery itself will require only about one hour in the operating room.

Dr. Ingram will make a small incision (usually about one to two inches long) underneath your breast, in the fold where your breast and chest wall meet.

Then he will insert saline or silicone breast implants either behind your breast tissue or under the pectoral muscle, depending on your body and the look and feel you want after surgery.

After your surgery, sterile dressings will be placed in the operating room, and then you’ll spend a half hour or so in the recovery room, while our staff ensures that you’re completely ready to go home.

You will go home the same day as your procedure, and our patients typically return to work within a few days. We like you to get back to fairly normal activities within the first week, although you will have some restrictions on strenuous upper body activity for two or three weeks following surgery.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER
A BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT

After any surgical procedure, everyone has some swelling and bruising, but with a BBL, most of this will fade away within a week or two. Any discomfort you experience during recovery will be managed with prescribed medication.

You will need to wear a compression garment for several weeks to ensure that your skin heals completely and tightens smoothly, as well as to help create the curves you want. You should also be prepared to take a few days off work after your butt enhancement procedure to rest and recover.

You will need to keep weight off your bottom so that blood vessels can grow into your newly transplanted fat cells, and Dr. Ingram will instruct you on how you should sit and sleep following your surgery to ensure the best outcome.

You will look great right after the procedure, and your final results will begin to appear after the swelling has subsided and your body heals.

GOOD CANDIDATES FOR A BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT

A good candidate for a Brazilian butt lift should have an appropriate amount of fat to extract from the body in order to inject the buttocks.

Dr. Ingram has injected from 200cc to 1900cc per buttock, and people of all body shapes and sizes do quite well with this operation. Before scheduling surgery, you and Dr. Ingram will look over your body to see how you can best benefit from the suctioning and injection phases of a BBL.

Part of being an ideal candidate for this buttocks augmentation procedure is having realistic expectations. To help develop realistic expectations, look over the Brazilian butt lift before and after photos in our gallery.

WHAT ABOUT BMI?

BMI is only one factor in a person’s health. If you are young, healthy, and muscular, you likely are going to have a higher BMI than an older or less healthy person.

Rather than focusing only on BMI, Dr. Ingram will perform a comprehensive evaluation of your medical history and will assess your health holistically – especially focusing on your heart, lungs, neck, and upper airway –to determine if you are a good candidate for a Brazilian butt lift.

If you have any preexisting medical conditions, you may need to speak to your primary care doctor to see if he or she has any suggestions on how we can make your buttocks enhancement surgery the safest possible.

BBL COST

The cost of this butt augmentation surgery varies from patient to patient. The amount of fat transferred impacts the overall price, as does the total surgery time and the anesthesia costs.
