What is a Breast Lift?

Dr. Ingram’s expertise in cosmetic breast surgery ensures a tailored solution to meet your specific aesthetic desires through Mastopexy, more commonly referred to as a Breast Lift. This cosmetic procedure improves sagging breasts by eliminating excess fat and skin and the firming of adjacent tissue. Its primary objective is to rejuvenate the breasts, elevating them to a higher position on the chest. Additionally, it frequently involves reshaping the areolas to achieve a more youthful and natural look.

Something important to note: a Breast Lift does not alter the size or the top of the shape of your breasts. A Breast Augmentation may be combined with your lift to

First Steps

What’s The First Step?

To begin your journey toward an improved look with a Breast Lift, the initial step is to arrange a consultation with Dr. Ingram. Within this initial consultation, Dr. Ingram will engage in a dialogue concerning your aesthetic aspirations, thoroughly examine your medical background, and assess the current state of your breasts. This comprehensive assessment aids in identifying the most suitable surgical strategy tailored to your individual requirements. This session is also your opportunity to ask questions and share any concerns you may have regarding the breast lift procedure details and subsequent recovery process.

Once your initial assessment is complete by Dr. Ingram, he will put you in touch with our patient coordinator who will aid with scheduling and information about the surgery costs.

What to Expect on the Day of Breast Lift Surgery

Upon your arrival at our clinic on the day of your surgery, you will be escorted to the procedure room for preparation. Dr. Ingram will personally guide you through each step of the process, ensuring you are fully informed about what to anticipate, in accordance with the surgical plan he outlined, and that you both discussed.  To commence the procedure, anesthesia will be administered to ensure your comfort by numbing any sensations of pain or discomfort.

Once you are sedated and in the operating room, Dr. Ingram will make the incision around the areola and the breast crease. Next, he will begin lifting the breasts and making the placement in such a way as to naturally contour to your body shape while also giving you an elevated, firmer look. This will be done using the underlying existing breast tissue. He will then reposition the nipple and areola to a more youthful and ideal place on the breasts, along with the possibility of reducing enlarged areolas by excising skin from the perimeter. Any excess breast skin is removed to address skin elasticity concerns.

Following the reshaping of your breasts and removal of excess skin, the concluding phase involves closing the incision and applying a bandage or gauze. As the incisions are closed, the remaining loose skin itself is tightened. While certain incision lines resulting from the breast lift procedure are discreetly concealed within the natural contours of the breast, others may be visible on the breast surface. It’s important to note that these incision lines are permanent; however, in the majority of cases, they will gradually fade and markedly improve with the passage of time.

You can expect to be in surgery for up to 3 hours in total, after which you have time to recover under the caring supervision of our medical staff, before returning home.

Breast Lift Recovery

Following a mastopexy procedure, patients typically require one to two weeks of recuperation time before returning to work. It’s common to experience some swelling and discomfort, which can be effectively managed with medication prescribed by your physician. You will be fitted with an elastic bandage to aid in the healing process. It’s important to refrain from activities that may strain, bend, or do heavy lifting during this period.

To alleviate pressure on your breasts, it’s advised to sleep on your back or side. Dr. Ingram will provide guidance on when it’s appropriate to resume daily activities such as washing your hair, showering, or bathing. Initially, wearing the surgical support bra continuously for 3 to 4 days is advised, followed by wearing a soft support bra for three to four weeks.

While healing, it’s essential to shield your breasts as well as the incisions from sun exposure while outdoors.
